Project Ouverte
A Kitchen Made for Gathering
Project Ouverte is the complete design, detailing, and installation of a kitchen and dining area in a newly built apartment complex on the outskirts of Paris, in the Val de Marne (94). Unlike our frequent work in older Parisian buildings, this project offered the opportunity to work with a spacious, modern canvas, where the kitchen could become the defining heart of the home.
For a family of four, the brief was clear: create a central space that would serve both daily family life and the frequent social and community gatherings they host within their close-knit neighbourhood.
The kitchen was designed and built with IKEA modules, though the drawer & door fronts as well as all hardware were from specialised suppliers. We added minimal custom joinery in oak for shelving that is at once easily accessible and decorative. The large "semi-island" serves as a bar counter, and all fridge and freezer equipment was built into its under-counter drawers to keep a unified and open aesthetic.
The result is a kitchen that is at once functional, generous, and welcoming, designed not just for cooking, but for connecting. By placing the kitchen and dining areas at the core of the home, the design reflects the family’s values of hospitality, community, and togetherness, ensuring the space remains a vibrant focal point for years to come.
