Project Blanche
A Light-Filled Duplex – Paris Suburbs Duplex Renovation
This project involved the complete renovation of a two-level duplex apartment in Paris, transforming a dark and compartmentalized layout into a bright, connected family home. A custom-designed staircase, built entirely on-site, anchors the design and serves as both a functional and architectural element, while exposed wood beams are a testament to the newly created atrium connecting the two levels of the apartment.
The renovation included a drastic re-organization of space and circulation, as well as the opening-up of part of the attic-level floor.
This intervention created a striking double-height living space that visually and physically links the two levels of the duplex—previously isolated from one another. The result is a “house in the sky,” with the vertical connection enhancing a sense of openness more often found in private homes than in traditional Parisian apartments.
Unobstructed views from the French windows and balcony emphasize the apartment’s Parisian charm, while abundant natural light floods the interiors throughout the day. The minimal yet flexible design provides the perfect blank canvas for this small family to imprint their unique identity and way of living.
