Bespoke Design to Optimise Space – A Compact Paris Apartment
This project is the transformation of a small apartment on the edge of Paris, where every square meter was reconsidered to make the most of space, light, and functionality. Designed for a couple and their young child, the renovation rethinks how compact living can support a rich and varied daily life.
The design is also deeply personal: a celebration of the family’s Brazilian roots. Artworks, cherished objects gifted by relatives, and an extensive book collection are integrated into the new architecture, bringing warmth and identity to the home.
The layout was reconfigured to create both openness and intimacy, balancing fluid curves with straight lines from the very entrance. With limited surface area, the challenge was to craft variety without clutter. A restricted material palettebecame the common thread, deployed in different ways to form distinct moments—enclosures, backdrops, and functional zones—while maintaining coherence throughout.
